Post and Go Services at Autumn Stampex 2013

Autumn Stampex 2013 has just closed its doors, taking place between the dates of 18th-21st September at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London N1.

 

Royal Mail provided the now familiar configuration of Post and Go ”Royal Mail Series One’ machines Nos. A2, A3,A4  along with a “Instant Smiler ” printer.

They all have been busy over the last three days providing the standard fare of an overprinted Post and Go commemorative plus from Friday  the latest in the ‘Freshwater Life’ series (Rivers) along with On-Demand ‘Post and Go Instant Smilers’ as below:-

Various improvements have been made since previous events and it was noticed that the  machines benefited from a new-improved faster internet connection allowing for faster throughput of customers resulting in reduced queues compared to previous Stampex events..

Fly the Flag with Post and Go -Updated background and design

On 21st May 2012, Royal Mail are due to issue an updated Post and Go stamp version of the Union Flag stamp originally issued in 2001  in honour of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

This will be available from Royal Mail in the usual ‘Pack’ format (at a bargain face value of 60p) as well as from the numerous Post and Go branches throughout the UK.

The Pack version and those applied to Royal Mail serviced First Day Covers have once again have had the text printed by Hytech in Holland.

Note:- Royal Mail have changed the background for this issue – to a much darker blue colour to improve the appearance of the printed stamps.

 

 

Hastings Post and Go kiosk resurfaces in Farringdon Road, EC1

Farringdon Road, London Ec1 Post Office has just moved down towards Farringdon station. The new branch has been totally refurbished to the latest standard and includes a Post and Go Kiosk…

Upon enquiry with the staff it was confirmed that the kioks is the one orginally installed at Hastings Old Town Post Office but with a new branch code of 100003 and the counter reset- Note the font has not been upgraded to the new, condensed  style.

Machin Post and Go Faststamps Set of Five ~ For Sale~ ATM Shop

Machin Head Post and Go stamps have been dispensed from Wincor-Nixdorf kiosks in the UK since 2008.
There are two versions of the print – one printed by the kiosk at Post Offices across the UK and another press-printed version of the original font set available from the Philatelic Bureau at Tallents House in a presentation card.
The labels can be obtained with 5 different service indicators: 1st class & 1st class Large up to 100gr, Europe up to 20gr, Worldwide up to 10gr and 20gr, singly or in strips of up to 5 of the same value or various values.
For those that are printed by machine there are two further versions of the oveprint- original and updated font (see below) , for these we supply a strip of the five different values currently available in a special ‘collectors strip’ and offer a choice of machine code (when available) and font.

During 2009, In preparation for the pending issue of Pictorial (Birds) Faststamps some 32 Post Office branches had their kiosks’ software upgraded which resulted in the repositioning and resizing of the font.

New Machin ‘Type 2’ Font Faststamps Issued Today

Today (8th September 2010) the Post Office commenced the software upgrade required to issue the new pictorial ‘Birds of Britain I’ Faststamps on17th September 2010

 

So far two branches in London have been  upgraded ;-

Ludgate Circus -(Machine 4 only) and 205 Old Street.

As a result of these changes the machine printed text changed font and moved to the left.

It is expected that all branches that will vend the new ‘Birds of Britain’ Faststamps will be upgraded between now and the Birds First Day of Issue.
